DVL Core Usage FAQ

How can I get ROOT at DVL?

Written by Dr. Thorsten Schneider

For DVL 1.0 (core edition) and DVL 1.1 (Black Hat Edition): If you ever need to get root use "sudo su" without password.

If you are working with DVL >= 1.2 (Strychnine), well... you ARE root by default!!! Read the boot message ;)

Where can I find all the Challenges?

Written by Dr. Thorsten Schneider

During DVL 1.0 - which was a core release only (take it as beta release) - the challenges have been located at "/opt/wwwroot/htdocs/".

Since Damn Vulnerable Linux Black Hat Edition all binary challenges (exploitmes, crackmes) are located at /home/dsl/dvl/. After starting DVL you will be directly in the home directory of user "dsl". Type "ls -l" and you will see the directory "dvl". Webexploitation is still located at "/opt/wwwroot/htdocs/"

Since DVL Strychnine and above the challenges are located at /dvl/
